Are You Getting the Most Out of DITA Content Reuse? [On-Line Event]

DITA was built around the idea of content reuse, but many content creators are not maximizing reuse within their own documents. When DITA content is optimized for reuse, content creators can focus on writing new content, reduce localization costs, and deliver more consistent content.

In this presentation, IXIASOFT’s DITA Specialist Keith Schengili-Roberts will examine the various levels of reuse possible within DITA, including what you need to know to get the most out of topic-level reuse, phrase-level reuse, using keys effectively and more. He will also answer common questions relating to content reuse, including:

  • What are the benefits of DITA-based content reuse?
  • How do you measure content reuse?
  • What levels of reuse are considered optimal?
  • Can you go too far with content reuse?

Aimed at both new and experienced DITA users, Keith’s presentation looks not only at how to create effective content for reuse, but also why it matters.

Key Referencing – The Key to Reuse [On-Line Event]

Topic based content enables organizations to piece content together to fit different customer needs. But often times this content can’t be shared and reused to its full potential because it contains product names, specific values, screenshots, links, or other content that would be out of place in another context. This means that conceptually or procedurally identical content is duplicated for different audiences, products, or even brandings.

This webinar will take a look at how to reduce or eliminate this issue using DITA Key-referencing.

New Features in Arbortext 6.0

Arbortext is more than an Editor. Arbortext is really a full platform from editing to publishing and content management. Arbortext is the only fully-functional, end-to-end, pure XML, enterprise-level DITA solution.

In this presentation, Liz Fraley is going to show Arbortext Editor 6.0 (with maybe a little bit about Styler thrown in). We’ll focus on usability improvements and enhancements for DITA support. There are a lot of new changes that everyone who’s an everyday user has been happy to see.

The OASIS DITA standard began with IBM and it began in Arbortext. PTC/Arbortext was the only vendor invited to be a charter member of the OASIS DITA Technical Committee and still participates on that committee today. IBM Editing staff continues to use Arbortext Editor as well. Support for DITA 1.2 was available as early as the 5.4 M50 Release in June of last year.

Who should attend: Anyone interested in moving to DITA now or in the future, anyone who has already begun that transition but is looking for a better way, and anyone who is just plain curious.
