What is the difference between Arbortext Content Manager and Windchill?
- Arbortext Content Manager comes in two flavors: Arbortext Content Manager (ACM) and Arbortext PDMLink
- Arbortext PDMLink 10.0 is identical to WIndchill 10.0 but has been rebranded for the Arbortext product line
- Arbortext Content Manager is focused on technical documentation and has all the Engineering and CAD features turned off.
- All the datasheets for Windchill apply to Arbortext Content Manager and/or Arbortext PDMLink.
What's New in Windchill 10.0?
PTC continues to enhance Windchill to give customers greater content management and collaboration capabilities with the following new features:
- Expanded Pro/ENGINEER compatibility with support for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0
- PDS Interoperability – Now Mathcad, Arbortext IsoDraw and CADDS 5 content can be captured, controlled and shared within a single enterprise environment, and even within a single product structure
- Windchill Webparts for SharePoint – A new module that allows Windchill information to be presented in a familiar SharePoint interface
- Integral solution for Requirements Management - With Windchill 9.1 M020, PTC introduces Windchill RequirementsLink, an optional module which helps ensure customer and market needs have been satisfied by managing, tracking and cross-referencing product requirements as part of the overall product development process
- I-deas TDM Gateway - I-deas TDM design data can now be captured within Windchill as part of the overall product configuration

Overhaul of the UI and significant usability improvements including:
- Home Page Configuration - allowing the user to see what is important to them by configuring columns displayed and the layout, as well as quick links
- Improved search capabilities
- Global Search - remembers frequently searched object types and provides quick access to search history
- Advanced search - users can perform more complex searches and save the search
- Search History - a simple click to open the ‘Navigator’ will show users their searches from today, older searches and saved searches. This integrates search into the users navigation

- Easier access to the list of Products, Projects, Libraries and Workspaces that the user frequently accesses using the ‘Navigator’ which can be easily expanded for deeper access to items
- Configurable Tabs - out of the box tabs are provided per object type. In addition users and administrators can configure tabs by reordering, adding and renaming tabs. This reduces clutter and enables end users to easily identify what is important
Improved Technical Publications
- The Action Item menu has been enhanced to only include items relevant to the publication user
- New actions on the context menu for Arbortext Editor Dynamic Documents. Users can now view representations and publish representations by right clicking on an Arbortext XML object in a folder view
- Significant improvements to the Publishing Wizard allow users to easily create WVS representations using a wizard that is tailored towards Arbortext document objects that do not present information and questions that aren’t relevant to the Arbortext users.
- New Publishing wizard specific to publishing Arbortext Editor Dynamic Documents reduces the wizard from four screens to two - users can reuse the settings after the first time. The wizard will remember the last selection and users can select “submit” from the first page when no changes are required, further reducing the number of required steps
