SAN JOSE, CA. - June 30, 2009 - Single-Sourcing Solutions is pleased to announce that the Arbortext DITA Application supports the preliminary 1.2 version of the DITA specification.
The DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) standard was pioneered at IBM and is sponsored by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), a not-for-profit, international consortium that drives the development, convergence, and adoption of e-business standards.

You can use Arbortext Editor to edit any DITA 1.2 document. Composition is preliminary and not currently supported for all of the new DITA 1.2 features. Several features are either not yet supported or not completely supported.
The Arbortext DITA Application supports the DITA standard class attribute that enables an element to be labeled as a specialization of another element. Output and other processing can treat occurrences of the specialized element as if they were the base element used for the specialization. This process is called generalization or fallback processing and is supported by the Arbortext DITA Application.
