As technical editors, how do we know where to focus our limited time? What if we could work with writers to communicate expectations and figure out the scope of work on a project? Well, we can!
Join us as Li-At Rathbun discusses levels of editing—the common language that can help us set expectations, focus our energies, and limit our distractions. Li-At will define common levels of editing and discuss various aspects that affect how we tackle projects.

About the Visiting Dojo Master
Li-At Rathbun has over 20 years of technical communication experience (yes, since kindergarten). For the last twelve of those years, she’s worked primarily as the technical editor at Yardi Systems—an international software company.
Li-At also teaches the popular “Technical Editing Foundations” STC online course and is an STC Associate Fellow. She’s the President of the Santa Barbara STC chapter, Acting President of the Los Angeles STC chapter (as of last week), and Immediate Past Co-Manager of the Technical Editing SIG.
When she’s not technical communicating, Li-At enjoys performing improv.
